Local restaurant, Garifuna Flava, shines at Taste of Chicago

Local Belizean restaurant, Garifuna Flava, entertained crowds both Friday and Saturday at the Taste of Chicago.

As a staple along 63rd Street for several years, the restaurant has been featured in many local and national media outlets, including the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," WTTW's "Check, Please" and ABC7's "Hungry Hound."

So it was no surprise they were asked to participate as part of the new Pop-Up restaurant section at this year's annual Taste of Chicago event.

By Saturday evening, the line outside their booth was long, and continuing to grow. Featuring their classic (and best) dish, the Jerk Chicken with rice and plantains, along with the spicy and crunchy panades, Garifuna Flava didn't disappoint.
